I replaced my diverter valve which was mildly cracked. For the 2.0TSI on the MkVI GTIs, they made a new revision diverter valve that holds more boost and is more durable. I noticed a bit of blow off so that’s why I checked it out. The whole job was relatively easy and simple. However, getting to the 3 bolts is very difficult. I spent about an hour under the car just trying to get the bolts off and then get them back on. The part was cheap at my VW dealer. Have some photos with annotations.
Just to get an idea as to how set in that diverter valve is.
Was a fun little project.

Just like any other maker, in other words. As an example, changing a headlight bulb on many small modern cars is almost nightmarishly complicated because there’s so little space.

it’s a joke honestly , most of the Germans clearly think of different ways to overcomplicate everything. (Opel is the exception)
if the vehicles were bulletproof like early 80’/90’s Toyotas , i’d buy one tomorrow.
but as they are quite frankly rubbish , not in a million years

Changed a head light bulb on a Megane once, can confirm.

Like that Torx 45 that's larger than what's in the normal sets for the oil plug! German car logic. Love my car but it has German written all over it.

I plan to upgrade the diverter valve on my Fiat Abarth next week. The stock DV is pretty weak, so a lot of folks have installed the GFB DV+ . Fortunately, I won’t have to go spelunking for the DV they way you did with your VW!
